Photo by Jiacong Lin Model: Haoting Pan

Dying Ocean is a wearable dress designed with and made of unconventional materials— aluminum cans and fishing nets.
Its inspiration come from ocean debris which include illegal fishnets and other marine debris such as cans, bottles, oil, and styrofoam.
The goal of the project is to create the base of the dress with fishnets (drift nets) and to cut and shape aluminum cans into beautiful decorations (roses) to contrast with their initial image of trash.
The purpose of Dying Ocean is to reinforce the importance of recycling, to acknowledge the danger of illegal fishnets and ocean pollution, and to give additional value to used cans and fishnets.
